Savor The Flavor, Sierra Madre, CA.

When we went to Sierra Madre High School to see Ray Bradbury we had extra time to walk around the town. It is such a nice little town. (Not like the little town I live in with one little store which is half antiques nobody ever buys, but that's a story for a different day) It is a little town with quite a few little shops and restaurants.

Our favorite place in Sierra Madre was Savor The Flavor. We stopped in and were enamoured with the many little treasures, whether they be useful, decorative, or tasty. Not only was there a great selection of goodies, but Karen treated us as if we were her old, dear friends. If you are ever in the Sierra Madre area, you should pay her a visit. Be warned, when we asked to take her picture she put us behind the counter and took ours instead. Don't be like me. Fix your hair before you go see Karen.

Oh, Baby! Binsi Giveaway

If you are going to have a baby or know someone who is you really should check out the Binsi product line. This is not your mother's hospital gown. Thanks to Binsi you do not have to go around with your bottom exposed in a hospital gown. Binsi offers you labor and birth apparel which will be comfortable and functional during your experience. Binsi clothing accommodates any necessary medical equipment with ease. Midwives, doctors, nurses and doulas have all approved of Binsi apparel.

The more I read about Binsi at their website the more I like about this company. You need to go check it out yourself. Make sure to bookmark it so you can share it with anyone you know who can benefit from it. Every pregnant woman is wishing for a way to make whole birthing process be less stressful. Who wouldn't rather bring their own fresh, nice looking, comfortable garments from home?

Here is where it gets even better. The nice ladies at Binsi want to give away one skirt or one top to one of my readers. Better yet is the winner gets to choose which item they want. So really, go look around the Binsi site. Then come back here and enter to win.

Here is what you need to do to enter:

First/mandatory entry: Go to Binsi and look around. Come back here and tell me two things.
1. What is your favorite thing about the company?
2. Which of their items would you like to have? (You will still get to have a choice when you win, so don't worry if you change your mind.)

After you do your first entry you can earn extra entries by doing any/all of these things.

IMPORTANT: You must leave a comment for each entry, so if you earn 5 entries for something, leave 5 comments. They don't all have to be clever. (but why wouldn't they be?)

Tweet about this giveaway. You can take up to two entries per day by tweeting twice a day. Here is one you can use, or write your own:

AquaNotes Review And Giveaway

Have you ever had a waterproof book? I had one years ago and I thought it was pretty neat. I think more books should be waterproof. I had never even dreamed of a waterproof note pad. I love note pads. Who doesn't?

Introducing AquaNotes, a one of a kind note pad which allows you to jot down your thoughts in the shower. I don't know about you, but my family never thinks to tell me they need shampoo, conditioner, body wash, or pretty much anything else until I have just been to the store. Then they say "Oh, I'm out of fill-in-the-blank." I will encourage them to use our AquaNotes to write these things down while they are in the shower. Then I can just rip out the page and take it to the store!

I also tend to think of things I need to remember while I am in the shower. I guess it is because there are usually no distractions in there. (We have 5 kids and a puppy, so even the shower is not a distraction free zone.) Now I can write down my shower thoughts instead of letting them wash down the drain.

We have AquaNotes hanging in our shower. I wrote a test note on our note pad and it was fine. Even though the pad and the pencil were wet, they worked like any old dry notebook. Pretty amazing. The pencil can be a little slippery, but not bad enough to drop it. I even managed to write legibly. Since I needed to run a thorough test I also used the eraser. To be honest I didn't expect the eraser to work since it was wet and the paper was wet. I figured if it did work it would tear a hole in the paper. Much to my surprise it worked and there was no hole in the paper. I was even able to rewrite in the same spot! Go-Go-Gadget-AquaNotes!

We have quite a few boaters in our family, and I know they will enjoy using these as well.

I asked Mark and LeAnn, the proud parents of AquaNotes to allow me to do a review and giveaway of their new product. They agreed and I'm so happy to get to share it will all of you.

Here is how you can enter to win AquaNotes of you very own:

First, the mandatory entry. You must do this entry for any of your extra entries to count:

Go to the AquaNotes website and look around. Then come back here and share something about it with me. You can tell me what you like, which product is your favorite, what other things you would like to see. Anything relevant to help this new family run business know what people like.

For additional entries you can do the following: (please leave a comment for each entry, letting me know what you did.)

My Voyage of Self-Discovery, Part 1

I think I need a ranch style house. This way I don't have to go up/down the stairs half a dozen times because I can not remember what I went up/down to get.

Also, I'm turning into my mother. Only not the part where everyone loves me or I can bake a killer pie. One of my daughters already cringes when we say the same exact thing at the same exact time. And let's face it, we all know what that means.

At dinner a week ago that same daughter lamented (with my other children) for a good ten minutes, with demonstrations from a dissected paper from a straw, about how I cursed them with short legs and looong torsos. This is why we take them to steakhouses. To hear about their bad luck in the gene pool.

I am apparently to old to operate my oh-so-cool new devices. This was evidenced this weekend when I thought I ended my call. Instead I left a somewhat long, fairly raunchy voice mail for my my cousin-in-law.

If you can think of other ways I can prove your superiority, just leave them in the comments and I'll be sure to give them consideration. I can not promise I will remember to do anything about it. Especially if it involves going up or down stairs.

I Got An Award!

Today I was given my first award from Annette at Fairy Blog Mother. She's a wise, guy, see, but she's a pretty cool wise guy. We made fast friends. At one point I was afraid the love affair was over. We came *this* close to coming to virtual blows over which one of us was going to win a super-fancy GelPro mat. In the end I didn't win and she better not have I think she didn't either. So we're still friends. That's why she gave me this award. Either that, or she only knows seven other people. Either way I'm glad to have it and if I saw her in person I'd give her a great big noogie hug. And maybe some of my good chocolate. As long as she smelled pretty good I would probably let her pet my puppy. Or make a call on my shiny new iPhone. And I would probably program her number into it, too. WITH a picture of her. (see how I snuck that reference to my shiny new iPhone?) She's the bees knees, and I told her so just today.

The Let's be Friends Awards stands for this:

These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers.

I have instructions to deliver this award to eight other bloggers. It's going to be difficult to choose because there are a whole bunch of friendly, interesting, intelligent, fun people out there. The eight of you have to pass it on or your eyeballs will fall out, so don't mess around, okay?

Here goes a list. If I left you off it's not because I don't adore you, it's because... I don't know why I would do such a thing. You should totally confront me about it. But please don't, because it was very difficult to decide. I admit there may be someone on the list who isn't exactly my friend yet. But if she knew me she would be. Plus I just really dig her blog and have read ALL of it.
